Looking back on this blog, it seems it’s been quite a while since a player posted on LRA. The guys who started this blog helped jump start a new era for IU lacrosse (both on and off the field). All the current players on the team appreciate what they did and we plan on building something great from it. But there are a lot of fresh faces on the IU lacrosse roster nowadays. So I believe introductions are in order.
My name is Alex Eaton, and I hail from scenic Carmel, Indiana. I am a sophomore midfielder for IU lax, and I’m struggling to make this not sound like a cover letter. Studying in the Kelley School of Business will do that to you. Regardless, I’m very thankful to Coach Tumbas for giving me the opportunity to blog for the team and I’m very excited to give some insight into the every day life of an IU student and lacrosse player. You may have seen 3 middies featured in the fall for our performance as the “Three Amigos” at the IU annual Halloween scrimmage (see above). I’d like it to be known that we appealed not being chosen first place, but it was denied. I try not to live in the past though… so lets move on.
It’s odd to think that this first post comes just about two weeks before our season opener against Robert Morris. Check out our full schedule here. It has been quite the journey to get to this point. Coming into the fall most of our team didn’t know each others names. The coaching staff and our returners have done a great job of showing us new guys what it’s all about. We had a lot of success in the fall with our trip to St. Louis before stumbling against Purdue in the final scrimmage. That game taught us a lot and just made us hungrier for spring.
So here we are. The gear has started flowing in (delicious), final prep is being made, and the 2013 stringing rules have been implemented (eh). The whole team is itching to hit someone else for once. I’ll be here throughout the season and I hope you’ll join me for the ride. You can follow me on twitter if you want. Also be sure to follow @IULax. Thanks for reading!
