A Dedication To A Dynasty
Let’s go back to the 90′s…
If you think we are talking about the Lakers, you are sorely mistaken. In recognition of the 20th anniversary of the Chicago Bulls 1990-1991 World Championship, I would like to dedicate a post to one of the finest teams to ever grace the arena of sport. A ceremony took place last night at halftime of the Bulls game versus the Jazz commemorating the team. It was quite the spectacle, the action begins at 5:15 when they announce Scottie and Michael. When Michael comes to the podium to speak, something very special:
Michael is so awesome. Watching that live definitely gave this Chicagoan a few shivers down the spine.
Though I was only a youngen, I remember, vividly, those 6 titles. Is there really a comparable team? I’d listen to a case made for the 4 World Series in 5 years for the Yankees. Also the Lakers as a whole in the last, I don’t know, 30 years. But with the same core group of guys and the success they had, I’m not convinced anyone is in the same league. Thoughts?
The NBA today is so soft. Proven fact: there’s a positive correlation between short length and complaining. The longer the shorts, the longer the time spent complaining. It got so bad they made a rule that if you say anything to the ref, you get a technical. Children. Look at this picture and tell me you don’t ever ask why they changed the shorts.
Ever so authentic. Ever so pure. Raw desire and passion. If anyone wondered where lacrosse got its fashion influence, look no further. Note the Celtics’ socks. The classic two stripe. And of course, the length of shorts. Also note the subtle but super identifiable V-cut on the side of the shorts. An old school lacrosse trademark.
While sifting through the internet for pictures, I came across a photo that caused me instant physical ailment.
AHHHHHHH!!! It’s like the first time you ever watched Pee Wee’s Big Adventure, where you’re having a blast enjoying every second, then Large Marge comes on the screen and you’re frightened to the point where you’ll never watch the movie again. That happened to everyone, right? Not just me? … Just me?
Is Lebron a winner? Lets ask the winners…
Those 90′s teams were just so good and so entertaining to watch. How could you not love watching the most exciting player in basketball history? You mean Michael Jordan, Dan? NO. Dennis Rodman. DUH. UPPER DECK!!!!!!!!!!!!
I wonder how much my cards are worth these days.
Loved this tweet:
K18 knows what’s up. He’s on my very exclusive list of people I’d like to meet.
I’m not sure anything will ever touch the competitive entity that was the NBA back then. A truly amazing time in sports history. So here’s to you, Chicago Bulls of the 1990′s (and Phil Jackson’s suspenders)
We’ll end this with Derrick Rose’s vicious dunks
Not a huge fan of the announcing in the second video
It’s a shame GBN lost this one
